Motion 514 Petition

It has been immensely heartening to see everyday Albertans unite against the NDP’s ideological push for abortion in rural communities.  Sadly, the NDP’s priority for rural Alberta is more abortions. 

Meanwhile real rural healthcare remains lethally underfunded and ignored.  Recent studies show that a person in central Alberta are up to 70% more likely to die if they have a heart attack than someone who lives in a urban region. 

Southern Alberta is facing an emergency response time crisis as their EMS dispatching centres are being shut down and moved to Calgary.  Not only does this represent a loss of rural jobs, it also has caused disastrous delays in EMS response times. 

Fixing these types of problems are the priority of rural Albertans, but they are being papered over and ignored by the NDP.  Instead, the NDP wants to use the resources that could help save the lives of people dying from heart attacks, and other potentially fatal acute medical conditions, in order to push their pet issue: abortion.

Thankfully, the response to this latest NDP attack on rural Alberta has been loud! 

We are starting to get noticed, and to keep up the pressure, we hope everyone is able to click here and send an email to the relevant political figures to express your outrage.  Also, if you have not already, please spread the petition through social media!

One last quick update: given the rate at which the legislature is voting on the private member’s motions, we anticipate that Motion 514 will get to the floor by the fall at the earliest.  This means we still have time to organize!

The Wilberforce Project officially launched our petition against M-514 today!

The Wilberforce Project is on the front lines of this fight against this motion, and to be successful we are going to need to partner with common-sense, grassroots Albertans.

Rural Alberta deserves to have its priorities heard and met, it certainly does not deserve to become a ploy in the NDP's divisive political game.

Rural Alberta is constantly ignored, and this motion is yet another step in that direction. 

Please sign our petition against M-514 and spread the word.  I can only hope that the opposition parties will be a voice for rural Alberta.
